-Examples of my work-

  • My customer had a ring that belonged to her grandmother which she had inherited four years ago, but it had never been worn as it was five sizes too small so was hidden away in a drawer. When my customer also sadly lost her mum this year she decided to use the ring and have a new ring made for her mums ashes, creating a connection to them both.
  • MY customer had a Sterling Silver ring which wasn’t her style or size and requested it be turned into a marquise memorial ring to include the ashes of both her grandparents. She chose my runner setting as she wanted a more modern (yet still timeless) design.
  • I was commissioned by a family to make four memorial gold rings from one very large and heavy keeper ring. The keeper ring had originally belonged to a man that had sadly passed away, and the new rings were for his children. This order was especially unique and sentimental as I also incorporated Suburu paint from their Dad’s beloved car into the ashes inlays.
  • My customer had a bracelet that held lots of sentimental value to him, and when he sadly lost his granddaughter he wanted to find a way to incorporate her ashes into the bracelet. In order to do this I had to custom make a Sterling Silver cuff charm to replace the stainless steel one, which I incorporated the ashes into with green opal as it was the granddaughters favourite colour.
  • We were contacted by a customer that had previously ordered a wedding band set requesting us to reinvent the set into a memorial ring and pendant set as her husband had very sadly passed away. It was one of his final wishes that we melt their rings together to create a memorial set for his ashes once he passed. This was tremendously sad, and a true honour.

Why Choose Steven Jame's Reinvention Service?

At Steven James Jewellery I understand that sentimental jewellery is far more than just a fashion statement- it is an everlasting tribute to memories, love and connection.

My reinvention service gives you the chance to take old sentimental or inherited much loved jewellery pieces that may have sat collecting dust somewhere as they are unwearable, and reinvent them into new designs that are more to your style/size which you can wear with pride.

It can also be a great economical decision, because providing even scrap jewellery can reduce the cost of your new design.

I also record the making process of your design so you get to see the time and care that has gone into handcrafting your new design, as well as the reassurance and peace of mind that your much loved piece was used to create your new design.

What types of jewellery to people get remodelled into memorial designs?

  • Inherited jewellery that has sentimental value but is not their style.
  • Broken, hollow jewellery that’s not economical to repair (like Gold hoop earrings).
  • Diamond jewellery that repeatedly has stones falling out, and lost.
  • Family jewellery to divide among siblings or family members.

How does the memorial reinvention process work?

If you have a jewellery piece that you would like to be reinvented into a new memorial design it is a simple 3 step process-

STEP 1- DETERMINE THE WEIGHT OF YOUR JEWELLERY

If you have a jewellery piece that you would like to be reinvented into a new memorial design then you will be required to first and foremost weigh the item/s as this will determine the cost of your new design.

This can be done on simple kitchen scales, however if you do not have a set of scales to weigh your jewellery there is a product link below for you to purchase some.

Alternatively you can send your jewellery to us to weighed on camera, and the order can be placed once you have the weight.

Please note- all jewellery received will be weighed on camera to confirm the weight, and if the weight is less than the option you chose then you will be invoiced for the correct weight, so please ensure you weigh your items with accuracy.

Click this box to order scales.

STEP 2- CHOOSE YOUR DESIGN

Once you know the weight of your design you can browse our memorial reinvention catalogue or custom design your own piece (please see the bespoke reinvention page for his option).

I can work with as little as 1g of silver/gold, and you can choose designs that are heavier than the weight of your jewellery, I will just add the extra weight of metal in for you.

Each design has drop down boxes that show you the price in reflection to the weight that you provide. So for example- if you're providing 3-4g of silver/gold, you will choose that option in the drop down box.

STEP 3- PLACE YOUR ORDER

Once you have placed your order you will be sent an ashes reinvention pack. This will include the items that you need to send me your loved ones ashes and your jewellery as well as directions.

Once I have received your items I will send email confirmation of its safe arrival and begin work on your new design. Memorial Reinvention turnaround time is approx 4-6 weeks from once I receive your items.
