-Examples of my work-

  • My customer was terminally ill and feared he would not be here to attend his brothers upcoming wedding but wanted to be a part of it somehow, so he gave me a gold ring which was a family heirloom and asked me to reinvent it into a wedding band for his little brother. He chose a red inlay to represent their Welsh heritage.
  • My customer had a Sterling Silver 925 ring that had sentimental value, and wanted it reinvented into a marquise cluster ring.  I supplied the Pink Sapphire and Moissanite stones and the customers old ring supplied the silver.
  • My customer wanted a Damascus wedding ring, and had some gold jewellery that he wanted to be incorporated into his wedding band as it had belonged to his mum who had sadly passed away. I turned the gold into a thick wire which I inlaid into a handmade Damascus court wedding band.
  • My customer had a broken Silver bracelet that held sentimental value that she wanted incorporated into her wedding ring. She chose a diamond band design, and I needed to add extra silver for it, so her bracelet was melted with extra silver bullion to make this custom design, along with a 0.10 carats diamond.
  • My customer had scrap gold that didn't hold any sentimental value, but knew it would help to reduce the cost of her wedding band to supply include it in the making process. The customer went for a simple 5mm court band.

Why Choose Steven Jame's Reinvention Service?

At Steven James Jewellery I understand that sentimental jewellery is far more than just a fashion statement- it is an everlasting tribute to memories, love and connection.

My reinvention service gives you the chance to take old sentimental or inherited much loved jewellery pieces that may have sat collecting dust somewhere as they are unwearable, and reinvent them into new designs that are more to your style/size which you can wear with pride.

It can also be a great economical decision, because providing even scrap jewellery can reduce the cost of your new design.

I also record the making process of your design so you get to see the time and care that has gone into handcrafting your new design, as well as the reassurance and peace of mind that your much loved piece was used to create your new design.
WHAT TYPES OF JEWELLERY TO PEOPLE GET REMODELLED?
  • Inherited jewellery that has sentimental value but is not their style.
  • Broken, hollow jewellery that’s not economical to repair (like Gold hoop earrings).
  • Unwanted engagement rings to remodel & symbolise a fresh start.
  • Diamond jewellery that repeatedly has stones falling out.
  • Family jewellery to divide among siblings (ie mum has a Diamond 3 stone & we make 3 separate pendants for her children).
  • Old engagement rings that were purchased when the couple’s budget were tight are brought in for an ‘upgrade’
HOW DOES THE REINVENTION PROCESS WORK?
If you have a jewellery piece that you would like to be reinvented into a new design it is a simple 3 step process-

STEP 1- DETERMINE THE WEIGHT OF YOUR JEWELLERY

If you have a jewellery piece that you would like to be reinvented into a new design then you will be required to first and foremost weigh the item/s as this will determine the cost of your new design.

This can be done on simple kitchen scales, however if you do not have a set of scales to weigh your jewellery there is a product link below for you to purchase some.

Alternatively you can send your jewellery to us to weighed on camera, and the order can be placed once you have the weight.

Please note- all jewellery received will be weighed on camera to confirm the weight, and if the weight is less than the option you chose then you will be invoiced for the correct weight, so please ensure you weigh your items with accuracy.

Click this box to order scales.

STEP 2- CHOOSE YOUR DESIGN

Once you know the weight of your design you can browse our reinvention catalogue or custom design your own piece (please see the bespoke reinvention page for his option).

I can work with as little as 1g of silver/gold, and you can choose designs that are heavier than the weight of your jewellery, I will just add the extra weight of metal in for you.

Each design has drop down boxes that show you the price in reflection to the weight that you provide. So for example- if you're providing 3-4g of silver/gold, you will choose that option in the drop down box.
